An incisive and contemporary outlook on everyday life from a critically time-challenged and generally harried female perspective (blablablah...it's the site for my comics series)

Maxine's BD: Willamette Writers Conference
...Where Maxine explores her altruistic side as a conference volunteer...
Enjoyed your pics and story. Maybe they dress weird because, like me, they don't know what J.Jill is! Is it a fashion style or a label? Some of us just don't want to buy into labels. The only reason there is fall fashion, spring fashion and so on is to get you to spend your money. Some of us can't or won't get on that track. But, it was a cute story and I try not to get too weird (although my family might debate that).
I thoroughly enjoyed your comic journals. Your drawings are very cute, and the lettering is lovely. Thanks so much for sharing this. It's wonderfully done!
J.Jill is a (chain) store downtown where all the clothes look elegant and stylish, in a sort of natural linen, soft colors kind of way. It's pretty expensive, and I occasionally manage to find something in my size on clearance. Since I'm usually more like a Target clearance shopper, I was thrilled to find a sweater for $14.99 at J.Jill and that's what was on my mind when I worked on that page.
"BD" means "comics" in French; this is where I will tell my alter-ego's (mis)adventures, aka "Maxine's Comics."
Why the name "Maxine"?
Many years ago, when I had some bookwriting ambitions, I thought that "Maxine Sellers" would be a really cool pen name... Surely, any person named Maxine would be smart, efficient, self-confident, even successful... (There is no relation between this comics and another series with a similar name.)
this was interesting! and cute too!
